Our Story

We met almost 12 years ago.  It was Karaoke night at the local pub and Jaime LOVED to sing. Jaime was also in a funk band.  Jaime and her friend Chrissy were actually just walking out of the bar when Jaime saw Philippe walking in. Jaime turned to Chrissy and said, “Maybe we could stay for a few more minutes?”

Jaime and Philippe talked that night, especially about their shared love of music (Philippe was in the music industry at that time) and we went on our first date that weekend. We’ve been together ever since, and married now for 6 ½ years.  We are best friends who love life and everything life has to offer.  Our small family includes our baby “Nika the pup”, and Jaime’s first love, “Quesi the cat” (short for Quesadilla!) and we can’t wait to expand our family through adoption.

Family Life

We were both raised in wonderful families who are very excited and supportive of our journey through adoption.  Philippe is an only child but has grown to see Jaime’s older brother and younger sister as his own. In fact, today, we are one big happy family!  (And yes, he treats Jaime’s sister like his “kid sis” – and she loves it!)  We also have 2 young nephews and while they don’t live as close by as we would like, we try to see them as often as we can. And when we can’t, we send videos back and forth to stay in touch!

We are also very close to our parents. Jaime’s parents live in South Carolina, Philippe’s mom lives right near us here in NJ and Philippe’s Dad and step mom live in Belgium. This means that phone calls, emails and our “online photo sharing” are even more important to our ability to stay in touch.  We’re also very fortunate to be able to travel to South Carolina and Belgium often to see our families in person – and they visit us, as well.

We also think of our family in an extended way. We have grandparents, aunts, uncles and step siblings whom with we are very close, but we also have friends that we consider family.  These friends come from all walks of life, all different backgrounds and varying sizes of family, and without them, our life would be incomplete.

And of course, our little “pup” Nika (who is now 7 months old), and our little “queen” Quesi complete our family.  They are our precious babies and teach us every day what it is to love unconditionally.

Lifestyle

We are fortunate to live in a wonderful area of NJ and a beautiful neighborhood filled with great people, families, children and lots of great space to run around and play. Philippe is very active in his hobby as well as his career. As a Tennis Professional, Philippe teaches people of all ages how to become better tennis players, but also, better people, both on and off the court.  Philippe loves Tennis so much, he actually wakes up every morning at 4:45 to play Tennis with his friends before work.

Jaime works in financial services and has worked at the same company for 14 years. She loves her job and more importantly, the people she gets to work with every day.  While Jaime doesn’t get up at 4:45 to play tennis every morning, Jaime does love to be active and enjoys running and going for walks – especially when she gets to bring Nika with her!

We love to hang out with friends – on any given weekend you can find us home with an open door policy or somewhere with our friends. We also love traveling, listening to music (and dancing in our kitchen), going to movies, attempting to cook and just relaxing!

Adoption

We know you are making a very important and loving decision. We know that this will be a learning process for all of us, and we look forward to meeting you if you find our story to be one you’d like to learn more about. We also understand the importance of communication, both throughout the process as well as afterwards, and we are very open to discussing with you the best ways to keep in touch for everyone involved – most importantly, the child.

Best Wishes,

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for building an adoption plan so thoughtfully and seriously.  We know you have many wonderful families to choose from and are grateful that you are considering us as well.

We are so very ready and excited to expand our family and open our home and hearts to a child.  Our friends and family are incredibly supportive of our journey, and they can’t wait to be a part of it with us.

We truly believe adoption is a miracle – and know that if you choose us, we promise that we will be the best parents we can be to this child, and we will offer them a wonderful home, a neighborhood filled with children, a top-notch school system and unlimited opportunities to grow and pursue their life’s dreams.
