Our Story
Hi! We are Taylor and Dave! Welcome and thank you for taking the time to look at our page! We’re so excited to share our story with you!
We met on eHarmony in early December of 2015. We talked online for a few weeks before deciding to meet in person for the all important first date. We decided on a movie date and saw Star Wars: A Force Awakens. After the movie, we were having such a great time we decided to continue the date over dinner. We met up at one of the local Japanese restaurants. After dinner, Dave asked to see me again for a second time and gave me a one arm hug. Clearly, we were both awkward turtles who had finally found each other.
We continued dating and soon became boyfriend and girlfriend. We then bought a house together and all was good, but something felt like it was missing. In 2019, we figured out we were missing a puppy named Benny to change our house into our home. In early 2020 right before the pandemic closed the world, we got engaged. In 2021, we got married.
Ever since then, we have been excited about growing our family! We went through some difficult times trying to have a baby unfortunately it does not look like it is in the cards for us right now. We know we are meant to be parents. We talked about adopting multiple times before we were even engaged. We are excited to hopefully adopt a wonderful child into our family. We have so much love to give. We want to raise a child in a loving, happy, family-oriented home.
Family Life
Some of our favorite things to do are as simple as spending a night at home together eating dinner with our dog, Benny, and watching a movie. We enjoy listening to music while cooking and cleaning. Sometimes, we turn the music on just to sing and dance along. Hilariously, our dog finds both equally offensive! We love watching football games together and playing in our fantasy leagues against family and friends. Outside of this, we enjoy going to the zoo, historical museums, and taking Benny on adventures.
We go to our Presbyterian church when we are not working on Sundays. We are also a big board game family as we often play many different and new board games at family holidays. We love spending time with our families and friends. We are both very family oriented and are lucky to grow up with loving and supportive parents, grandparents, and siblings. This is exactly the environment we want to recreate for your child – one full of love, family, and wonderful childhood memories.
Lifestyle
We live in a suburban town with schools nearby and close to family and friends. We have a fenced-in backyard where our dog, Benny, loves to run around. Our town has a diverse population that brings in even more diversity with its restaurants, theaters, and shopping districts. It also holds fun family events around the holidays and all summer long. We have a few parks and playgrounds in our town and neighboring towns that are really nice that we would love to take our child to one day.
Adoption
With your blessing, we will share your child’s adoption story with them from birth. We also want your child to know you and know where they came from. Whether it be annual visits at the Family Options picnic, emails, photos, and/or letters, we want what is best for you and your child.
One of David’s older siblings married an Asian woman. Another sibling adopted his wife’s first son. Ethnically, his son is a combination of Hispanic and Black. It makes no difference to him or us that he looks different. He is just family. She is also family. That is all that matters. We are also very open about learning/incorporating other cultural differences into our lives. Recently we started learning about Judaism due to a family friend on Taylor’s side. It ends up being a great time learning about Passover and Hanukkah while teaching them about Easter and Christmas.
Best Wishes
We want to conclude by saying thank you for your strength and courage in making this difficult choice of choosing adoption and for even considering us as your child’s adoptive parents. We want to promise, if chosen, we will provide a safe, supportive, accepting home filled with love, laughter, and memories for your child.
Additionally, Benny is super excited to finally get a human sibling to love and play with. He loves his whole family but is always willing to add a new smaller member.
