Our Story
Hello! We are Alyne and John and we’re so grateful you’re taking the time to get to know us. We have been together for 13 years and married for 6.
We actually met when Alyne did make-up for John’s sister’s wedding and the rest is history! From the beginning our relationship has been rooted in love, friendship and a lot of laughter. We’ve always dreamt of starting a family and while that journey hasn’t unfolded the way we once expected due to endometriosis, we believe it has led us exactly where we are meant to be.
Adoption is especially close to our hearts because we both have cousins that are adopted showing us firsthand that family isn’t always defined by blood but it is always rooted in love.
Family Life
We value kindness, patience and empathy. We hope to raise a child who feels safe being exactly who they are and knows they will always be unconditionally loved and supported.
Alyne was raised Christian and John was raised Catholic, we consider ourselves spiritual and hope to pass along those values while allowing our child to find their own path.
We have two adorable Pomeranians, Jerry and Roux, who look forward to sharing the toys we keep buying them but they never actually play with :). We rescued Roux from True Faithful Pet Rescue Mission , an organization that has become very important to us.
Alyne’s father was a humanitarian and his example taught her the importance of helping others. We give back through volunteering, fundraising and supporting animal rescues, women’s shelters, and harm reduction and suicide prevention organizations. We hope to pass down those same values to care for others, never be quick to judge and always lead with compassion.
Lifestyle
Our life is a mix of quiet nights at home and little adventures together. Alyne is a professional makeup artist who loves beauty, fashion, vintage shopping and flea markets. John enjoys photography, fishing, birding and playing guitar.
We love spending time with friends and family, visiting our favorite spots in New York City, taking day trips to explore upstate, and spending summers together at our family’s home down the shore.
Our home is cozy and warm filled with love and sentimental things that tell the story of who we are. We live in a close-knit community with great neighbors close to plenty of parks. We love making our home a place where people feel comfortable and welcome.
Adoption
Our hope is that you always know how much your child is loved, supported and cared for. We are comfortable with sharing letters and photos to help you stay connected to your child. We will always be honest about your child’s adoption and make sure they know their story, where they came from and how deeply they are loved.
We are open to welcoming a child from a different ethnic background than our own. Both of our parents are immigrants, so we grew up understanding the importance of culture and staying connected to where you come from. Through Alyne’s career in beauty, she has a lot of experience working with different skin tones and hair textures and understands how important it is to know how to properly care for and celebrate what makes everyone uniquely beautiful. We would honor their heritage through traditions, food, language and community, so they always feel proud of who they are.
Best Wishes
We have so much respect for you and the strength it takes to consider a decision like this.
If this journey is meant to lead to us, we promise a childhood filled with love, laughter, traditions, adventures and all the little moments that become memories. Your child will always have our patience and support and we will encourage them to be kind, compassionate and confident in who they are.
Alyne has always tried to find the light in difficult moments and we hope to pass that along too. John has crocheted blankets for our nephews and friends, and looks forward to the day he can make an extra special one for a child we are fortunate enough to welcome into our home.
Most importantly, they will grow up knowing their story, how deeply they are loved and that you will always be an important part of who they are and where their story began.
