Our Story
We are Talin and Patrick, together since 2014!
Our story and life together is much one of fate, which we know will to continue when fate finds us the perfect adoption match.
When we first met, Patrick was attending NJIT as a major in business information systems and Talin had just graduated Ursinus College and was working as a paraprofessional in a school district while getting her teaching certification. It was a cool, September evening when we both decided to go to a college event. We both actually did not attend the college but decided with our friends that it would be fun to attend the event. Patrick walked in with Talin’s favorite snack, a big bag of delicious kettle potato chips! Talin had brought to the event, trying to be unique, a big liter of Dr. Pepper, which turns out to be- Patrick’s favorite drink! When we saw each other, Patrick said- “I think we are going to be very good friends!” This was the beginning of a beautiful friendship, which over time and years turned in to love.
This is also very true to who we are as a couple, as at our foundations we are the best of friends and unique. Over the years our relationship continued to evolve and grow. We got married in 2022 in an intimate ceremony with our family and friends, purchased our first home together in a quiet suburb and have started our life together. Our family did grow in 2023 when our chocolate lab, Miller joined our family! We are excited to continue to grow our family in the future.
Family Life
We both come from different cultures and religions. Although different, we respect and value each other’s differences and both are practiced within our home. Patrick is of Polish decent, as both of his parents were born in Poland and immigrated to the United States when they were young. Patrick is of Catholic faith. Talin is Armenian as both of her parents were born in the Middle East and immigrated to the United States when they were young. Talin is an observing Armenian Apostolic. Both faiths are a sect of Christianity, as such we plan to raise our child in the Christian faith. We are both spiritual rather than religious. We do not go to church often, instead we use our time to discuss ideologies on our own.
We are very family oriented and spend a lot of time with our extended families. Both of our parents, siblings and extended families live in the surroundings area. We have a strong family foundation. Our families are supportive our decision to adopt and are excited to add a new member to our family! Since both families are so close, we do alternate holidays and events in order to ensure that we see both sides of the family.
Being fair to one another and our respective families is important to us. We believe in open, honest and transparent communication with not only each other, but with our family as well. This extends into how we also will raise our child. We want them to know not only our culture and heritage, but theirs as well, should you be willing and interested in sharing that information with us.
Lifestyle
We both have very similar interests, and this shapes how we spend our time and set goals as a couple. We LOVE to travel. One of our goals as a couple is to travel as much as we can. There is a big, beautiful world and we are eager to see it! We have already begun researching the best travel strollers and tips/tricks for traveling with children. We believe seeing the world is an invaluable experience and are excited to share that experience with our child. In our travels we also love to try new restaurants and local cuisine.
The area in which we live is diverse and there are a wide variety of cuisines available. This extends into our daily life as we also love to cook and bake at home. When you enter our home there will always be something in the stove baking or something sizzling on the cooktop! These treats and dishes will be found at our family gatherings and time spent with friends, as we are frequently hosting events.
On a Sunday afternoon you would catch us home with friends, some delicious appetizers on the coffee table and a football game streaming on the TV. If we aren’t watching sports you might also see us watching a Marvel or Disney film, or the Harry Potter Series. We love the mystic worlds of Marvel, Disney and Harry Potter! Not only do we love to watch the films but we are both avid readers. We love to read different genres like not only fiction, but non-fiction as well. In our spare time we will watch history documentaries, as well as visit different museums and galleries.
Adoption
As we begin to navigate this process and new experience, we understand that this is new for you too. We are all learning, growing and navigating new territory. Ultimately, our goal would be an open relationship as we feel that this would help your child to understand where he/she comes from. We believe in open and transparent communication and would want this to be a positive experience for all parties, and as such we would hope that you would feel comfortable to communicate with us if you ever feel that you need to adjust our level of contact.
We would love to send you photos and updates. If living in different states or areas, we would make it a primary goal for your child to have a yearly or bi-yearly visit with you if you are interested. We want to be able to support both of you in this journey and merging of lives. We understand that life can get hectic and sentiments can change based on your season of life, and as such we simply as for communication to remain transparent and truthful. We will always be honest, transparent and communicative with you.
Best Wishes
We have not yet met but we want to thank you for taking the time to consider us and this route. Even you don’t choose us, we are hopeful that you will be making a dream come true for another family, and that in itself is still something that brings joy to our hearts.
We have learned so much and met so many other beautiful, incredible families on this journey that when you look into their eyes, you can see the desire the families have to become a family through adoption. We know if we were to see you, we would see that same look, the desire to give your baby the best possible life and family. We wish you peace as you navigate this time in your life and all that the future brings.
If we have learned anything so far in life, it is that we look and hope to have peace in our home and heart. We have been blessed to find peace in each other, and our home. This did not come without trials, heartbreak and hard work. Talin has personally had to grieve the inability to have children, which as a woman, is a difficult fate to bear, but she has found peace in knowing that somewhere, someday she will be a mom. Whether that be a mom to a beautiful baby, to our fur baby Miller or to the students in her classroom- she is at peace knowing that her journey moves forward in whatever way life may lead.
We truly understand that finding and feeling at peace is the ultimate gift and feeling one can have, which is why that is our wish for you. We wish you peace in your decision, peace in your journey and peace in your heart.
