My Story
Hello and welcome to my page; my name is Petra. I want you know that I greatly respect your courage and strength for considering adoption for your baby. I hope my profile gives you a sense of who I am and it will reassure you that I will be a completely dedicated and committed parent to your child. I would like to assure you that I will provide a home where your child will have unconditional love and a secure environment.
I moved from Grenada to New Jersey in 2006. I live in a lovely 3-bedroom house close to the beach. I am fortunate enough to have my mother living with me; she can’t wait to welcome another grandchild into her life. I love the outdoors and enjoy hiking. There are hiking trails and picnic parks near my house. We have small flower garden and raised boxes for our vegetable garden. The beach is about a 30 minute walk from my house (which I often do in the warm weather) and about five minutes by car. The summer atmosphere in my neighborhood is vibrant with activities such as concerts and other forms of entertainment. We have a small community garden with a park for community members.
I work for a small accounting firm that is family owned. My career has taken me to different places in the United States. I work on projects for both small companies and large corporations. My hours are stable for most of the year. I have very considerate employers, and they provide time off for new parents.
Family Life
My mom and I have a very close and solid relationship. We depend on each other for support and encouragement when we face any difficult challenges that life throws at us. We are extremely happy when there is bright light in each other’s lives. Our home is fully of warmth, laughter, and consideration of each other.
My mom is supportive of my decision to adopt and she is willing to provide any support I may need without any reservation. My mom is such a great role model in my life that I pray I get an opportunity to be a mom just like her. She taught me about sacrifice for others, commitment, and loyalty.
At the age of 16, my mother and I took in my brother’s daughter (whom I love as my own) when she was about a year old. I enjoy taking care of her and being there for her. It will bring our home great joy to have a little one running around happily and carefree in our home.
I am thankful for my wonderful friends. I have a close relationship with my friend from Grenada that I met at my first job, and we have been friends for over 20 years. Overall, I can depend on them no matter the distance between us. They are just a phone call away when I need someone to seek advice or just have good laugh.
Lifestyle
My faith is important to me because it guides me in life. My faith makes me be a better person. My mom played a huge part in the development of my faith. Growing up, my mom, siblings, and I attended worship every Sunday and bible study on Thursdays. I remember my mom purchased a bible story book which she read to us.
Four things that I really enjoy:
1. Home decorating.
2. Baking goods and mailing them to my friends and family members.
3. Walking and being around nature.
4. Gardening.
Five Family Activities that are important to me:
1. Bible Study.
2. Simple birthday celebrations.
3. Thanksgiving dinners.
4. Gift exchange during the holiday seasons.
5. Spending quality time with each other.
Adoption
If given the opportunity, I would like to get to know you so that I can tell your child about you, your courage, strength, and commitment to them. I would love to keep you updated with pictures, letters (I think handwritten letters gives a personal touch), and virtual calls. I would also love to attend the Family Options picnic with you each year.
If I am blessed with a child that is a different ethnic background then myself, I will do my best to learn as much as I can about their background and culture in order to incorporate their culture into our daily living. In general, I love learning about different cultures. It teaches me to appreciate other differences.
Best Wishes
My promise to you:
I will always be present for every activity and event in their lives.
I will provide a safe sanctuary for your child that will protect them from the difficulties they may experience.
I will provide a home of laughter, joy, and playfulness which will nourish their confidence and create stability.
And above all, I will teach them about how much God loves them.
I thank you for taking the time to get to know me and for considering me as a potential parent to raise your child. As a single mom, I can assure you that I will love your child unconditionally and I will always be present in every aspect of his/her life. I will provide the best home atmosphere for the child to grow and develop in.
