Family Life

Saulo was born in Brazil and grew up speaking Portuguese with his family. We decided we wanted to pass that onto our son. Since the day he was born, Cassius has heard two languages. Saulo speaks to him in Portuguese and Sabrina in English. It has resulted in a bilingual six-year-old who has a passion for language! We plan to continue that pattern for any other children added to our family.

After having our son, we changed up our life radically. Saulo is now working as an electrician and Sabrina stays home with our son. We have been homeschooling for a few years now and it has been a blessing. There are many resources and groups for homeschooling in our area. We attend a co-op once a week where Cassius has classes with other homeschoolers. He enjoys swimming, gym, Lego, and other engaging lessons. We plan to continue homeschooling for the foreseeable future and would apply the same path to any other children in our home.

Our home is Christ-centered, we attend a Bible believing church near our home. We celebrate holidays with family and friends and sometimes travel to Florida to spend holidays there with Sabrina’s family.

So far the only pet we have brought into our family was a Betta Fish named Mappai. Right now Cassius has a Venus Fly Trap plant that he takes care of everyday.

Lifestyle

We have a sweet and comfortable bi-level home with four bedrooms. Our neighborhood is family-oriented and we love to take walks to the cafe and shops nearby. The beach is close and you can often find us walking the boardwalk or playing at a beachy playground. Farms, festivals, and amusement parks are typical family outings.

As a family we enjoy music. Saulo plays guitar, piano, and a few other instruments. Sabrina sings and Cassius is learning piano and some drumming.

Adoption

As a couple we have learned so much about open adoption from this experience. We would welcome you to have as much contact with us in the way of letters, pictures, or phone calls.   And we would love to see you at the Family Options picnic each year too!

In our family Latino culture mixes with American. In addition to speaking two languages in our home, Saulo has a great passion for language and is also fairly fluent in French as well as knowing Spanish and some Russian. Sabrina has traveled extensively in Europe and together we have ventured to Armenia. Reading about other cultures, celebrating holidays, and travel are all great ways we would include the ethnic background of a child different from our own. We also have a diverse group of friends and family that we see often and that have a great impact on our lives.
