Our Story

Hi! We are Steven & Helen, thanks for looking at our page! We want to start by telling you the 3 main things that we connected over when our relationship was just starting: faith in God, music, and adoption (if we were listing 4, sense of humor would be next).

We have been married for a year and a half and had a very special winter wedding surrounded by the people we love. Our story started online, where Steven saw Helen’s profile and instantly wanted to connect. Turns out Helen was thinking the same thing when she saw Steven’s profile. As soon as we started to chat, there were clear sparks, and we decided to meet up at a Greek restaurant for our first official date. What we expected to be about an hour or so turned into 4 hours of talking about our faith, our shared love of Greek food, what we wanted for our futures, and what we liked to do for fun. We did not want the conversation to end, and the rest is history. We don’t have any children yet, but are so excited to grow our family through adoption.

Family Life

We seek to be a loving hospitable home, and to be a support to those around us. We plan to teach our children to love well, to serve others, and to do it all because they know the perfect love that they have from God. All of our values as a family come from our shared faith in God, and commitment to honor Him.

We value time with family, and make that a priority in our day to day life. We have 2 cats named Mavis and Calvin that we adore, and love snuggling them on the couch.

We would describe our lifestyle as pretty balanced, we love to spend time going out and being active and social, but equally love spending time at home and just relaxing. We enjoy hiking, going to the beach, paddleboarding, playing volleyball, and playing board games. Steven is a drummer, was in a band, and even played in a well known local music festival.

Steven is also very interested in all things tools. If you find him watching a video on YouTube, you can be sure it is about the newest Milwaukee tool or new projects he can do around the house. Helen loves to sing, was a lead singer in a local funk band, and loves to sing at church.

We both love to teach, and serve in children’s ministry together. We are very involved in our church community, spending time with them a couple times a week. We are also surrounded by family that lives nearby, who we usually see a couple times a week.

We would love to have an open adoption because we believe what is best for your child is to know and have a relationship with you.   We are committed to sending you updates and pray that there is opportunity for spending time with you as well. We also understand that this can be difficult for you, and hope we can show you the love and kindness that is needed to make you feel comfortable and accepted in our new unique family that you will be a part of.

We have a somewhat diverse family already, with adopted cousins from Guatemala, South Korea, Russia, and Ukraine. We also have a brother-in-law who moved here from Nicaragua. We both have had family and friendships with people from many ethnic backgrounds throughout our lives, and deeply appreciate the perspective it has given us.

When we picture the multicultural family that we are praying for, we find its beauty in the differences and new things that we will learn. Truth be told, we are not sure exactly what it will look like, but we are so excited for the journey.

Best Wishes

We know that this is no easy decision that you are making. If you decide to place your precious baby into our family, we will not take that responsibility lightly. We will care for and cherish your child the way we have been cared for and cherished in our families. By God’s grace, we both have had amazing families, and have learned a lot from many friends of ours who are parents today.

Know that as we are praying for our family to grow through adoption, we are also praying for you. We may not know your name, but God does and He hears us as we pray for you.

Our home is filled with laughter, music, dancing, games, and most importantly love. We hope that out of the uncertainty and loss you may be feeling, that together we can create something more beautiful than any of us can imagine.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us in this way!
